Who kidnapped the King?

There once was a king named King Oswick. One night, king Oswick went missing. He was kidnapped. All the knights were worried. One of them called Detective Hardy to solve the mystery. There were three suspects: the queen, a butler with a black mustache and a blue tuxedo, and a knight named Gerald who had a golden bronze sword and wore shining armor.

Detective Hardy had solved many cases, like the mystery of the missing crown, the mystery of the skeleton, and many more. This kidnapping mystery shouldn’t be too hard for him. Hardy rode his horse to the kingdom and approached the suspects. The king was last seen entering his private chamber at 10:00 PM and got kidnapped at night.

In the morning, the knights went to check in on the king, but he wasn’t there. Hardy eyed the suspects carefully. The butler was scared and nervous. He rattled his teeth and started sweating. He was also biting his nails in fear. The knight was just standing there, in a saluting position, as if King Oswick was right in front of him. And the queen was crying with deep tears. Hardy asked if there were any other suspects, but these were the three suspects. They were the only ones who had the keys to the chamber. The butler was the most obedient of all the butlers in the kingdom, so he had the keys to the chamber. And then the knight was the most powerful and mighty knight of the entire knight army, so he gave him the keys to the chamber. And of course, the queen had the keys as well.

Hardy knew that the three suspects could also not be the kidnappers because one of the knights or butlers could’ve stolen the keys and entered the room. Still, he questioned the three suspects first and asked each one of them what they were doing at night. “The king and I both go to our respective chambers and sleep at 10:00 pm every night,” the queen said, sobbing.

“So you both sleep in different chambers? I see. Wow, I have never seen you cry before, Your Majesty!” replied Hardy. “Usually you’d be serious about things and would act very powerful, but I guess you cried today.”

“My husband is kidnapped! Of course, I’d cry, Hardy!”

“Yeah, whatever,” Hardy said, Before he could go question the butler, a group of knights carried a huge bag they found under the king’s bed. “We found this under the king’s bed, Detective Hardy,” said one knight. “The person who kidnapped him must’ve stuffed him in this bag so the king can die without oxygen. But King Oswick was smart and so he ripped open a part of the bag as you can see this rip to breathe oxygen. But he couldn’t rip the entire bag.”

Hardy, “Where is the king?” “He’s at the royal hospital. He should be better in a couple of hours!” “Alright. So this was a killing attempt, I see. Who would want to kill the king?” He turned his back to the butler who was sweating in fear. “So, butler, what were you doing at night?” “Well, I saw the king enter his chamber at around 10:00 pm, and I went to my room at 10:30 pm because I was cleaning the king’s throne!”

“Ok, well how about you, knight? Gerald’s, the name, right?” Hardy said. “Yeah, that’s me,” Gerald responded. “Look, detective, it’s not me. It’s not the queen either. Why would she kill her husband? It’s probably the butler!” “No, he’s lying!” said the butler.

Finally, the king came. “Oh, I thought you’d come after a few hours!” said Hardy. “Prepare to die!” said King Oswick as he took a sword and charged at Hardy. Hardy swiftly dodged and tackled the king. He fell down, and the knights picked him up.

“King, what are you doing?” a knight asked. “I’m not the king. I’m his twin brother. I wanted to be king, but he took the throne. I was mad so I left the kingdom. Well, I guess I returned to take revenge! I managed to take the keys from the butler as he was cleaning the throne. That foolish butler, couldn’t even realize I was there! I then went to my brother’s chamber and stuffed him under the bed. But as I was leaving the kingdom, I realized he could’ve ripped the bag to breathe, so I went back and saw you guys here, so I needed to kill you guys too !” Soon the twin brother got handcuffed and sent to the royal jail.

A few hours later, the real King came. “Some guy who looked like me tried to kill me!” “Yeah, it was your twin brother!” said Hardy. “Huh? I never had a twin brother.” “What? Then who was that guy trying to kidnap you?” They all stared at the jail cell. And they gasped. It was empty.
