Resting in a silent storm,
A battle within the calm,
Nestled inside the Himalayas,
The glacier bid a goodbye to its home.
Gushing down the riverside
With all its power and might,
Ice, water, and mud
Made the loudest thud.
Humans remained unknown to the unpredictable,
The universe conspired the unthinkable;
Washing away with roaring water,
They grieved in their own salt water.
Trapped within the debris,
Pleas and cries for help,
Buried in the deep — shrieks and screams,
Can we feel them? Can we help?
Families and locals
Moved together in quiet circles;
Someone came to the beautiful mountains,
Another to seek solace from life’s run.
It was a home to many,
A nature’s nest, a soothing harmony;
Pilgrims, tourists, or nature lovers
Flocked together as brothers.
Flash floods ripped apart Nepal,
Heart-wrenching stories of survival came up;
Hope in the darkest tunnel
Is a human’s best-known weapon.
Loved ones from all the corners of the world
Wait for one ray of hope—
A life amongst the lifeless,
How much a single breath holds.
Artificial intelligence or technology can’t help,
Human chains and resilience shine;
Humans surrender to nature,
And nature in turn will help.
Crashing glaciers call out to humans:
“We love you, but we’re warming.
Save us before it’s too late,
Only then can we save you.”
Humans are great at rebuilding,
So why not rebuild and restore nature
Back to its roots?
Let’s begin from the first difficult step.
Flash floods or quakes,
Rising heat or shivering colds—
Let’s halt the extremes
And heal the natural stream.
My heart cries for Nepal,
Prayer is all I can offer;
Oh nature, do not punish us,
Just show us the way.
