It was a regular day at school for little Saifuddin. Alphabets, numbers, nursery rhymes and snacks. Once home, he was done with lunch and soon retired for his power nap.
While playing in the evening he gazed out of his window and found something unique on the rooftops of certain buildings and apartments. His inquisitive eyes began to shine with wonder and excitement. The rectangle-shaped mats looked like a new dress for the rooftops. Its transparent black color with little white dots added curiosity to his tiny but ever-engaging mind. Soon Saifuddin approached his mom.
“Mom, can you tell me what’s that on the rooftops?” he asked with sparkling eyes. Just when his mom was about to answer his question the doorbell of the house rang, and his mother had to rush to welcome the guests home. The evening and the night were spent cooking, eating, and serving the guests.
Saifuddin grabbed his Mom’s hand in the night and tried asking his question once again. Alas! Mom was already fast asleep. As Saifuddin snuggled into his blanket he wondered about those rectangle-shaped mats once again but soon fell asleep.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Knock Knock! Startled by the noise Saifuddin woke up and opened the door of his house. Bewildered Saifuddin stared at the gigantic yellow ball in front of him.
“Hello there! I am Mr. Energy! Didn’t you recognize me? Let’s go together on an adventure trip young boy, get onto my spacecraft,” said Mr. Energy holding Saifuddin’s hand firmly. As Saifuddin climbed into the craft, Miss Pole Star and Mr. Moon welcomed him with open arms.
Soon the craft landed at Mr. Milky Way’s home. Accompanied by the stars, moon, and galaxies Saifuddin munched on the Star and Milk pastry.
“Time to go little boy, let me solve the mystery of the rectangle-shaped mats for you,” said Mr. Energy.
Mr. Energy turned around and threw his yellow light all over the planet Earth. Slowly his rays spread across like magical wands and created light yellow smileys all over the Planet. However, after a few minutes, the yellow smileys began to burst and vanish all by themselves.
Little Saifuddin felt sad at the disappearance of the smileys. “Mr. Energy, I love Smileys, where did they all go suddenly? ” said Saifuddin nervously.
“You see I am the Sun. My light is a source of life, power, growth, and energy for the entire planet Earth, especially human beings. But these days there is a lot of emission of dangerous gases into the atmosphere and that’s why it’s become important to conserve and save energy.
To save the ecosystem, marine life, and forests you need to save energy, otherwise, all the resources will die out one day. If you use me, you will save the ecosystem in return,” Mr. Sun beamed.
“How do we use you? I am confused,” Saifuddin blurted softly.
“The rectangle-shaped mats are nothing but solar panels. When I shine bright and throw my light on the earth, these panels store my energy into themselves. This solar energy can be used as electricity at homes, offices, institutes, etc and thus you can save emissions of dangerous substances in our atmosphere and also save so much power in return. But only if you use me Mr. Energy the natural resource of power.”
Enchanted by Mr. Energy’s words Saifuddin decided to install solar panels in his apartment. “I will share this information with my parents and also spread awareness regarding this in my school and friends. Mr. Energy, you have always tried to help us, but we have done nothing for you in return,” Saifuddin said hanging his head in shame.
“Saifuddin my child, you can help me too. Turn off electricity when not required, use more solar energy, and don’t waste any natural resources like water. This is all I want and so does the entire universe,” the Sun said creating smileys once again.
Before Saifuddin could say anything, Mr. Energy gifted him a box of solar panels for his home and landed the spacecraft in his room. Miss Pole Star and Mr. Moon kissed his forehead and vanished into the night sky.
Frightened, Saifuddin woke up from his slumber. He ran to his window and saw the solar panels resting on the roof of the opposite building. He then looked at the sky.
The Moon winked at him and the Sun was about to rise. Little Saifuddin’s face shined as the morning rays fell on him.
The little child knew that a new purpose awaited him. He embraced the sun’s rays and opened his room windows. He opened his parachute of thoughts and flew higher and higher.
