The craze of waiting for and watching the
IPL matches started on the 22nd of April.
We two, personally are not interested in
watching the matches. At times we watch CSK, Mumbai or some matches.
We watch Team India Matches, ODI or T-20.
In IPL, the players are bought by any Team which sounds funny. The Auction of Material things sounds ok.
Well, this is the system to select their favourite players; Hardik Pandya taking over captaincy of the Mumbai Indians franchise
At times, some young boys are bought at a higher price’. Many International players are bought at a higher price.
The Indian Premier League is the biggest franchise-based cricket league in the world, which has been running since 2008. This means the 2024 season of The Indian Premier League will be the 17th edition of the IPL. In IPL 2024, 10 teams will be in the fray.
Two teams- Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings – have won the title five times each. While MI’s last title came in 2020, CSK came into the 2024 edition as the reigning champions. Chennai also won the 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021 titles while Mumbai were victorious in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 besides 2020.
Kolkatta Knight Riders have won the title twice so far while Gujarat Titans have won the title once in their two seasons. Rajasthan Royals and Sun Risers Hyderabad have also won the title one time each.
The 2024 season started from March 2024 where MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings played with Royal Challengers Bangalore and won the match. IPL 2024 will be played in a double roünd- robin format. Hence each team will face other teams twice during the league stage.
In the end, the top four teams in the points table will qualify for the playoffs. The 2024 season will see plenty of intriguing narratives: like Dhoni leading the charge for CSK in what could be his last season.; Rishabh Pant making his much-awaited return from injury for Delhi Capitals; Hardik Pandya taking over captaincy of the Mumbai Indians franchise from Rohit Sharma after MI acquired his services in the off-season from Gujarat Titans; and Shubham Gill taking the reigns of the Gujarat franchise.
After each game is over, the team who wins the game gets 2 points. The Point Table keeps altering after each game. Oh!
We see in our relatives’ houses, even some women are so excited, and if their favourite team CSK wins, they jump with joy. If they lose the game, they satisfy themselves by saying, ” Still a lot of games and they will be in the top 4.” What a craze in India for the game of cricket, even though Hockey is our National game.
When they meet on any occasion, the main topic would be IPL. the arguments of dropping the catches and bowling and batting will be on and we two enjoy their talks. Sadly, many increase their BP and many have died due to the stress of seeing their team lose. One should not get excited to an extent, they fall sick. It is after all a game and only one team wins.
In another few days, the IPL match will come to an end by the end of May. The best team will hold the Cup and the excitement will die down. Very soon in June, the T-20 World Cup will start and all attention will channalize their attention toward that game. Then again the same excitement discussions and arguments will be on the round.
This is a vicious circle. Hope people take it as a match and watch them casually without getting over-excited and may fight for their teams and either end up in the hospital or die of a heart attack. A lot of people bet illegally and some are caught at times. Take it easy, please. The best players may win. Do not take it seriously. Watch the game for pleasure and pure entertainment.
