The Eiffel Tower was built between 1887 and 1889 as the entrance arch to the 1889 World Fair held in Paris to celebrate the centennial of the French Revolution and was named after the famous French Engineer Gustave Eiffel who built the structure.
Initially, it was met with some controversy which later attained the status of a landmark as it was labeled as the symbol of Love and hence became a popular attraction.It stands at a height of 324 metres making it the tallest structure in Paris. Over the years it was used for a variety of purposes for example as a radio transmission, scientific laboratory, and tourist attraction. Today, the tower receives millions of visitors each year and is admired by people all over the world. There are five elevators that transport visitors to the tower’s three levels. There are 1,665 steps from the ground to the top of the tower.
Many couples propose their love and click romantic photographs with the tower in the background. The Tower is known for its breathtaking views and has also been featured in many movies giving it the enduring power of love.
