India has made a strong start at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, winning seven medals across shooting, mixed martial arts and cricket. The tally includes one gold medal, four silver medals and two bronze medals. Indian athletes and teams have put up impressive performances, giving the country plenty to celebrate at the Games.
India’s shooting contingent has contributed five of the seven medals. The first came in the women’s 10m air rifle team event, where Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod won the silver medal. The three shooters combined their efforts to secure a place on the podium for India.
Elavenil Valarivan added another medal to her name in the women’s 10m air rifle individual event. She won silver, making it two medals for the shooter at the Asian Games. Her performance was an important achievement for India in the shooting competition.
The men’s 10m air rifle team also secured a silver medal. Rudrankksh Patil, Parth Mane and Himanshu Dhillon represented India in the team event and finished with the silver medal. Their performance added another medal to India’s growing tally.
Himanshu Dhillon then won silver in the men’s 10m air rifle individual event. His medal meant that he contributed to India’s success in both the team and individual competitions.
Rudrankksh Patil also won an individual medal in the men’s 10m air rifle event. He secured the bronze medal, giving India another podium finish in shooting. With these results, shooting alone brought India four silver medals and one bronze.
India’s sixth medal came in mixed martial arts. Suchika Tariyal won the bronze medal in the women’s traditional -60kg event. Her achievement added another sport to India’s medal tally at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 and brought the country its second bronze medal.
The seventh medal came from cricket. Team India won the gold medal in the women’s team event, adding India’s first gold to the medal tally. This victory gave Indian supporters another reason to celebrate and took the country’s overall tally to seven medals.
With one gold, four silver and two bronze medals, India has made its presence felt across different sports at the Asian Games. The performances of the shooters, Suchika Tariyal and the Indian women’s cricket team have brought pride to the country.
