Have you ever wondered how our great-grandparents and grandparents were healthy and fit? They slept early and got up at the wake of dawn. They walked miles to work in their fields and to some other places. They are good and healthy food, unadulterated. The women folk, sat down near a mud Chula to cook. They bend down to sweep the courtyard and drew rangolis.
They did all the cooking, cleaning, and washing the clothes by hand. They ground the masalas on a stone ‘ Silvatta’. They looked after the cows at home and so all these were exercises to them, a sort of Yoga.
They did Suryanamaskar which now people do on a mat ( a good sale of mats)
The earlier men and women did all the exercises at no cost.
Now in some complexes, Yoga teaching is prevalent and women with their mats tucked in, enjoy the ‘ Yoga’ session paying some amount.
Our PM Mr.Mody made YOGA famous all over the world. At a recent yoga day on the 21st of June, he was invited by the UN to be in front to do mass yoga. It got into the Guinness World Record. A proud moment.
