“What’s taking him so much time?” Rhea wondered, looking at her watch. She was waiting for her fiance Gautam one fine Sunday morning, near the traffic signal.
After one whole hour at the bus stop, she saw Gautam drive his car toward her. Rhea somehow gulped her anger at waiting in a public place, bearing the looks of the passersby.
“Sorry honey, for keeping you waiting!”
Jumping out of his car he apologized, and immediately opened the car’s door for Rhea, who silently moved in by avoiding talking.
Once inside, Gautam continued, “Today, Ma was not keeping well. So I prepared your favorite gajar ka halwa all by myself for our picnic date.”
Turning around Rhea finally broke her silence. “Oh dear, you have burnt your fingers too. I’m so sorry for calling you nasty names while waiting for you. I thought you would never turn up.”
She was moved to tears, after seeing his blistered fingers somehow controlling the car’s steering wheel. Gautam just laughed it away and said with a charming smile.
“Well sweetheart, a promise is always meant to be fulfilled, no matter how much time it takes. Also, the longer the time, the sweeter the charm.”
