Meet the Friends
Hello! My name is Bubbles. I’m a little yellow seahorse who loves floating around and finding shiny shells.
My best friend is Stripe, a playful purple-and-white clownfish. Stripe tells the funniest jokes and swims faster than any fish on our reef.
Even though we look different and live in different parts of the coral, we do everything together.
A Sparkly Morning
One bright morning, sunlight danced through the water like golden ribbons.
Stripe: “Good morning, Bubbles! Guess what? I heard there’s a Rainbow Parade today!”
Bubbles: “A parade? What’s that?”
Stripe: “All the sea creatures swim together in a colourful line and show their special talents. Come on, let’s join!”
I felt a tiny flutter in my tummy. “I’ve never been in a parade before,” I whispered.
Stripe: “Don’t worry. I’ll stay beside you the whole time.”
Getting Ready
We swam to Seahorse Cliff where old Grandpa Turtle gave out shiny numbers for the parade.
Grandpa Turtle: “Here you go – Number 7 for the brave team of Bubbles and Stripe.”
Stripe tucked the number behind his fin. I practised puffing up my chest so I looked taller.
Stripe: “What talent will you show, Bubbles?”
I twisted my tail shyly. “I’m small. I don’t have a big talent like you.”
Stripe: “Everyone has a talent. Let’s think!”
He pointed at my tail. “You can curl it like a spring! Why not do the Twisty-Tail Dance?”
I smiled. “And you?”
Stripe: “I’ll tell my best ocean joke.”
The Parade Begins
Drum-fish drummed on empty clam shells – BOOM, BOOM, BOOM! Jellyfish lanterns glowed pink and blue.
We lined up behind Sparkle the Swordfish.
Drum-fish: “Step forward, Sparkle!”
Sparkle did a speedy figure-eight, her sword slicing bubbles.
Next was Coral Crab who clicked a snappy tune with her claws.
“Number 7, Bubbles and Stripe!” boomed Drum-fish.
Bubbles’ Twisty-Tail Dance
My heart hammered. Stripe winked. I took a deep breath and curled my tail into loops: one, two, three – then spun around in slow circles. The little fishes clapped their fins.
Stripe’s Big Joke
Stripe cleared his throat.
Stripe: “Why did the starfish sit on the rock?”
Nobody knew.
Stripe: “Because it wanted to be a rock star!”
The reef exploded with giggles. Even the shy sea cucumbers chuckled.
I cheered. Stripe flashed a grateful grin.
Trouble in the Crowd
Suddenly, a strong current whooshed through the reef. Baby Shrimp were swept off their rocks, spinning in the water.
Stripe: “Quick, Bubbles! They need help!”
Because I have a curly tail, I can hook onto things. I grabbed a waving piece of seaweed and held tight. Stripe guided the shrimps towards me. One by one, they clung to my tail like tiny ornaments.
When the current calmed, the babies were safe.
The crowd cheered louder than before.
A Special Prize
Grandpa Turtle rang a bell.
Grandpa Turtle: “Today’s Friendship Medal goes to Bubbles and Stripe – for talent, humour, and courage!”
He placed a shiny shell medal around both our necks.
Bubbles: “Stripe, we did it together!”
Stripe: “See? Your tail saved the day. That’s a huge talent.”
I felt proud and warm inside.
Lesson under the Waves
Later, we floated by the coral, medal glittering between us.
Stripe: “Remember, Bubbles: being small never means being unimportant.”
Bubbles: “And jokes aren’t just for laughs – they can make friends brave.”
We bumped noses, our way of a hug.
Home Time
As the sky above the sea turned orange, we said goodbye.
Stripe: “Same time tomorrow?”
Bubbles: “Of course! Adventure is better with a friend.”
We swam to our homes, hearts full of happy bubbles, knowing true friends bring out the best in each other.
