Bullseye Brilliance: India Clinches Seven Medals at Archery World Cup 2025 in Shanghai

India’s archers shot their way to glory at the Archery World Cup 2025 – Stage 2 held in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China, clinching seven medals in a stellar display of precision and perseverance. Finishing second on the medals tally, just behind traditional powerhouse South Korea, the Indian contingent demonstrated its growing dominance in the world of archery with an exceptional mix of youth, experience, and collective strength.

Deepika Kumari – The Queen of Indian Archery

Leading the charge was none other than Olympian Deepika Kumari, whose bronze medal in the women’s individual recurve event marked her 37th career World Cup medal. With this latest addition, Deepika has further cemented her legacy as one of India’s most decorated archers of all time. Her resilience and ability to deliver under pressure continue to inspire generations of budding archers.

A Golden Arrow from Madhura Dhamangaonkar

The standout performance came from Madhura Dhamangaonkar, who struck gold in the women’s individual compound category. Madhura, who has consistently impressed with her calm demeanour and sharp shooting, showcased immense focus to outclass her international opponents and secure the top podium spot.

Team Triumphs and Consistency

India’s strength in the compound division was further highlighted with a gold medal in the men’s team compound event, courtesy of Ojas Deotale, Abhishek Verma, and Rishabh Yadav. Their seamless coordination and precision proved too strong for the competition.

In the women’s team compound category, the trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Madhura Dhamangaonkar, and Chikitha Taniparthi claimed silver, narrowly missing out on gold in a hard-fought final.

The mixed team compound pair of Abhishek Verma and Madhura Dhamangaonkar added a bronze medal to India’s tally, once again underlining the versatility and depth in India’s compound archery circuit.

Rising Stars Shine Bright

India’s rising talent, Parth Salunkhe, added another feather to the cap with a bronze medal in the men’s individual recurve. With his composed performance on the big stage, Parth has signalled that Indian men’s recurve archery is in safe hands.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Yadav, who was also part of the men’s team compound gold-winning squad, doubled his success with a bronze medal in the men’s individual compound category, further proving his mettle as one of India’s emerging stars.
