Perfectly Imperfect We Are

Perfectly Imperfect We Are
Pic Courtsey: Google

Someone has rightly said,” People who have different personalities, interests, and backgrounds are more likely to be drawn to each other.” That’s why they say that Opposite Attracts.

Hell yes! Me and my husband are totally opposite of each other. He is a quiet, sensitive, and practical man whereas I am talkative and chirpy. I would laugh loudly with my mouth wide open whereas he would smile decently. He is a big movie buff and I like to take walks in nature. But despite all the opposites, we both find perfect balance together.  In fact, we accept each other’s qualities and personalities wholeheartedly because that’s the beauty of a good relationship. Sometimes I think about what kind of marriages fall in the category of so-called, ‘Love Marriages’, those marriages in which the bride and groom fall in love with each other before marriage like we get to see in movies or the ones in which love between two persons happens at first sight and then the couple decides to spend their lives together till eternity, or an arranged marriage.

Let me tell you all that ours was not a love marriage, it was a typical arranged one. But trust me love is no less, it can still be seen in our eyes, even after 20 years. Yes, like all other couples we two do fight and we have differences of opinion on certain matters but that is one common thing among all couples, isn’t it? Actually, this push and pull is required to keep a relationship going and never grow old. In fact, some light-hearted banter and playful teasings bring couples closer, help them understand each other, and add spice to their lives. Sometimes I think how boring life would have been if everyone in the family was the same. Not only are we two but each member of my family has his or her own unique identity, characteristics, and opinions, but we respect and accept each other as we are because these differences make our family beautiful. We never force each other to change and adjust. Rather, we try to ensure no one in the family is ever judged for their choices. We believe in acceptance because acceptance is always preferable to adjustments.

LOVE happened to me after getting married to this guy who is totally crazy for me, who fell in love with me right after looking at my proposal pic. He is the one who tries to fulfill each wish of mine, though he doesn’t promise to bring stars and moon on earth but is always ready to put in his best efforts so that he can see that smile on his beloved’s face.

It’s been more than twenty years since we got married but to part from each other is still as difficult as it was years ago. Whenever I travel to my parents’ house in Jaipur during summer vacations, the mere thought of living without each other for a month snatches smiles from our faces. Though spending time with my parents fills my heart with unbound happiness, to leave him alone makes both of us sad. We count days and call each other every day. (At least thrice a day)

Every day I thank God and my family for choosing him as my life partner. His love is the most precious treasure for me and I proudly say that I am madly in love with him.

He embraces my flaws and listens to me patiently without being judgemental and I embrace his imperfections and respect his perspectives. Yes, we are a perfectly imperfect couple.

Thank you so much The Momma Clan for this beautiful prompt, through this I got a chance to share my feelings and tell him how much I love him. I have transformed my emotions into words and they are coming directly from my heart.
