Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, the land of Maharajas and Maharanis is my hometown. I was born and brought up here so for me it is the best place to live in the world.
Jaipur is also known as Pink City and is supposed to be the first planned city in India. The walled city of Jaipur was designed to be in pink colour, which is considered as the colour of hospitality. And without a doubt, Jaipur is famous worldwide for its amazing hospitality. People from around the world come every year to visit Jaipur.
Amber Fort, Nahargarh, Jaigarh, Jal Mahal, Hawamahal, and Jantar Mantar are some beautiful famous tourist attractions, undoubtedly a treat for eyes especially for those who have an interest and inclination towards architecture. A combination of Rajputana and Mughal architecture can be seen in most of the buildings.
Jaipur is also famous for its rich food and culture. Dal, Baati, Churma with ghee and Lehsun Chatni is served with lots of love in almost all restaurants. Various dance forms including Ghoomar, and folk songs also add a charm to its rich culture and heritage.
Jaipur’s gemstones, silver jewellery, and handicrafts are also in great demand and are exported to many countries.
Jaipur is also famous for lightweight Jaipuri rajais, lehriya dupatta, and sarees. I bet one cannot resist shopping here.
And now my favourite, Jaipur ki Diwali, is worth a watch. The entire city dazzles with glittering lights. Johri bazar, chaura raasta are beautifully decorated and sparkle in its own elite way.
Apart from the beauty and grandeur of the walled city of Jaipur, the urban part of Jaipur is equally beautiful. Jaipur is a well-planned city and is among the fastest emerging metropolis because of its infrastructure and modern amenities.
As I mentioned earlier, Jaipur has always been a famous tourist destination for people around the world. There are many places to visit outside the walled city too. Ram Nivas Bagh, Albert Hall, Statue Circle, Birla Mandir, Peacock Garden, Patrika Gate, Jawahar Kala Kendra, Birla planetarium, Ravindra Manch, etc. The landscaping done by the authorities near all these areas are worth watching.
Jawahar Kala Kendra and Ravindra manch are the cultural centres, time to time they host many programs and exhibitions to promote the art and culture of the state.
Apart from tourism, Jaipur is also famous for its textile printing and handmade paper industry. Sanganer, a small town is quite popular for its sanganeri print bedsheets and sarees all over the world. It is also famous for its Bandhej (Tie and Dye) printing.
Jaipur is also famous for performing arts. The Jaipur gharana for Kathak is quite popular and is an example of its rich culture and heritage.
Jaipur is well connected by a network of domestic and International flights. Tourists can enjoy their stay in the finest luxury hotels, like Taj Rambagh, ITC Rajputana, The Lalit. These hotels are famous for their traditional Rajasthani charm. Chokhi Dhani village, which is around 20 km. away from the city reflects the true image of Rajasthan. Here one can see Rajasthani food, culture, heritage, and traditions all under one roof. A great place for families as it has many fun filled activities for kids like a Puppet show, Pottery, folk dances, Camel and Elephant riding etc.
Last but not least, we the Rajasthanis, we are the best hosts and are no less than vibrant colours of joy and happiness. Padharo mhare shehar to feel the vibe.
I am sure till now most of you must have made mind to visit Jaipur very soon, so dear friends the best time to explore Jaipur is November to March.
If you go, do try some famous heritage properties for a stay to get a feel of royal living.
