Packing for Memories

Packing for Memories
Packing for Memories

A holiday in the offing

and away from these grey UK shores

where the climate should be warmer

who could wish for more.

Packing my well travelled suitcase

should be an altogether joy

but I must remember the camera,

a most important ploy.

To capture in film  the funny memories,

new friends and adventures,

for the long winter evenings ahead

when out of bed, it’s just too cold to venture.

Holidays are just such a total change

none of the normal routines to rearrange…

“carpe diem” just has to be the way

seize the moment, pour a drink, now let’s play.

We’ve got beach towels and suncream

even my Panama sunhat is included

I’m going to wear my posh Italian shades

and feel trendy enough, not to be excluded.

So on with the washed out denims

a little threadbare it has to be said

But better than wearing more formal gear…

It’s that “planning for holidays” time of year.
