Mr. Tiwari suffered a sudden paralytic stroke. He lived alone in his flat, his wife passed away a year ago and his both sons lived abroad for job purposes.

The maid of the elderly man raised an alarm and informed the neighbors, who immediately shifted him to a hospital. The neighbors then called upon both sons of Mr. Tiwari.

Among both the sons, only the younger son Ramesh boarded the next flight to India to be with his father. Ramesh didn’t care for some important meetings he had to attend. He resolved to stay till his father recovered.

A month later, Mr. Tiwari was back to his walking stage. He was sad that his real elder son Manav didn’t come to meet him.

But his eyes filled up with tears of happiness upon seeing the service of Ramesh, his adopted son, who lost his parents due to an earthquake in the town when he was a small kid.

Mr. Tiwari’s neighbors used to tell each other. “The old man is reaping what he had sown years ago. Due to the devoted duty of Ramesh, his father recovered soon.”

A few days later, Mr. Tiwari even enjoyed a kite flying session along with his son Ramesh and many of the neighbors on the terrace of their apartment during the daytime. Everyone also relished the Lohri celebration downstairs in the evening.

The next day on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, to the delight of the father-son duo, some neighbors brought them homemade Teel-jaggery laddus and Razak. Eating a laddu, Mr. Tiwari confided.

“After years I’m celebrating the harvest festival of Makar Sankranti in the truest sense.” With a warm smile, he said this while looking toward Ramesh.
