Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026: India Finishes with 85 Medals

India concluded its campaign at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 with an impressive total of 85 medals, finishing fourth in the overall medal standings. The Indian contingent secured 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals, reflecting the dedication, determination and sporting talent of its athletes across several disciplines.

Archery delivered a memorable series of performances for India. Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi won gold in the women’s compound team event. Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav added another gold in the mixed compound team event, while Sahil Jadhav, Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru and Kushal Dalal claimed gold in the men’s compound team event. Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru also secured bronze in the men’s compound individual event. India continued its success in recurve archery as Ankita Bhakat, Kumkum Mohod and Kirti Sharma won gold in the women’s team event. Kumkum Mohod went on to win gold in the women’s individual recurve event, while Dhiraj Bommadevara and Kumkum Mohod earned silver in the mixed team recurve event. Neeraj Chauhan added bronze in the men’s individual recurve event.

Shooting also contributed to India’s medal haul. Kynan Chenai and Neeru Dhanda won gold in the mixed trap event, adding to India’s achievements in the sport. Their victory was another highlight of the country’s campaign, with Neeru Dhanda playing a particularly notable role in India’s shooting success.

Indian boxers produced several strong performances. Priya Ghanghas won bronze in the women’s 60kg category, while Kapil Pokhariya secured bronze in the men’s 90kg event. Lovlina Borgohain claimed gold in the women’s 75kg category, and Parveen Hooda won gold in the women’s 65kg event. Ankush Panghal also secured gold in the men’s 80kg category, adding to India’s success in the boxing ring.

Wrestling brought further medals for India. Sunil Kumar won bronze in Greco-Roman 87kg, while Nitesh Kumar secured silver in Greco-Roman 97kg. Sujeet Kalkal claimed gold in the men’s 65kg category, and Aman Sehrawat won gold in the men’s 57kg event. Deepak Punia earned bronze in the men’s 97kg category, while Antim Panghal secured silver in the women’s 53kg event. These results highlighted the strength and perseverance of India’s wrestlers.

India also celebrated success in sailing and squash. Prince Kurisin­kal Noble and Manu Francis won silver in the men’s skiff event, while Harshita Tomar and Shital Verma secured bronze in the women’s skiff event. Nethra Kumanan added another bronze in the women’s dinghy event. In squash, the women’s team of Anahat Singh, Joshana Chinappa, Tanvi Khanna and Shameena Riaz won bronze. The men’s team, comprising Abhay Singh, Veer Chotrani, Velavan Senthilkumar and Suraj Kumar Chand, also secured bronze.

Golf provided one of the standout moments of India’s campaign. Pranavi Urs won gold in the women’s individual event, marking a significant achievement for Indian golf. Pranavi Urs, Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar also combined to win silver in the women’s team event, giving India further reason to celebrate.

Team events added to the excitement, with India winning gold in men’s cricket. The Indian women’s and men’s hockey teams also secured gold medals in their respective events. These victories demonstrated the importance of teamwork, preparation and consistency at the highest level of competition. India’s men’s team in sepaktakraw also earned bronze in the men’s quadrant event.

India’s final tally of 85 medals included 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze, securing the country fourth place at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026. Although India fell short of its record haul of 106 medals at Hangzhou in 2023, the contingent delivered several memorable performances and important achievements across individual and team sports.

The Games provided Indian athletes with a valuable platform to demonstrate their abilities and compete against some of Asia’s finest sportspersons. Their achievements are a source of pride for the nation and an inspiration for young athletes who dream of representing India on the international stage.
