“It’s not man versus machine; it’s man with machine versus man without. Data and intuition are like horse and rider, and you don’t try to outrun a horse; you ride it.”
Human intelligence and artificial intelligence differ significantly in their nature, purpose, and how they learn and make decisions. Human intelligence is a complex, evolving system based on biological processes, experience, and emotions, while AI is a set of computer programs designed to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence.
“The real problem is not whether machines think but whether men do.”
“Machines were devised not to do a man out of a job, but to take the heavy labor from man’s back and place it on the broad back of the machine.”
Humans use logic, intuition, and emotional reasoning in the situations that they face, while AI is based on programmed algorithms that, sometimes when in the wrong hands, are used for ulterior motives. AI, when in the wrong hands, cannot feel emotions and act as designed.
Falsely using images to show the face of someone on some other person’s body or showing someone falsely in uncompromising position of kissing or in a bedroom scene are some ulterior uses of AI, which should be controlled.
But AI excels at tasks requiring speed, efficiency, and data analysis.
Think of AI as a supercharged brain capable of quickly processing information and learning from its experiences.
“Our predecessors endeavoured to make men into machines; we are endeavouring to make machines into men.”
Think of virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa, self-driving cars, or those on-the-spot recommendations you get on streaming sites.
Recently Alexa was shown in the media helping a little girl when she was all alone in the house. The little one asked Alexa to help, which she immediately did, and the intruders were left aghast.
One of AI’s key strengths is its ability to tackle complex tasks with pinpoint accuracy-such as in fields like healthcare and finance. Its systems can analyze medical images, detect fraudulent activities, and even predict market trends with remarkable accuracy.
“The machines unmake the man. Now that the machine is so perfect, the engineer is nobody”.
The things that make us uniquely human are our capacity for creativity, empathy, and emotional intelligence.
Humans possess the ability to think critically, adapt to new situations, and express emotions. Humans can generate novel ideas and adapt to new situations with creativity.
We are capable of “Think like a human, working like a machine.”
Robots, though quite common nowadays, lack the emotions and capability to act according to sudden changes in emotions and situations. They act as fed into their motherboards.
“The real problem is not whether machines think but whether men do.”
“I am all for your using machines, but do not let them use you.“
“The mystery that surrounds a thinking machine already surrounds a thinking man.”
Man uses machines rashly and recklessly for illicit purposes.
AI lacks emotional depth understanding, which helps us build connections, work together, and navigate the complexities of human relationships. We humans excel in quickly adapting to changing environments, using our understanding of context to solve problems. This flexibility lets us thrive in all kinds of situations and overcome challenges with resilience.
Rather than viewing AI and HI as competitors, it’s more productive to see them as complementary forces. While AI excels in tasks requiring speed, precision, and data analysis, human intelligence brings creativity, intuition, and ethical judgment to the table.
By harnessing the strengths of AI and HI together, we can unlock new opportunities for innovation and progress.
AI assists doctors in diagnosing diseases based on patients’ genetic and medical history, but human doctors are irreplaceable when it comes to understanding the emotional needs of patients and their families.
By embracing a collaboration between AI and human intelligence, we can cater better problem-solving future where technology enhances our lives while preserving our unique human values. We must ensure that AI and HI work together to serve the common good and uphold fundamental human values.
By harnessing the synergies between artificial and human intelligence, we can pave the way for a brighter future where technologies enhance our lives without overshadowing our humanity.
