
Omg! I am amused and amazed to see so many people spreading the benefits of various ‘Mudras’ in You Tube, Face Book and Instagram.
Men and women promoting different Mudras or Yoga , sitting on a chair, to control Blood Pressure, Diabetics, Arthritis and so on..
By the time you start following a particular person, you find another one is more appealing and you start following them.
Breathing technique is another way of keeping you fit. Chalo bhai, let us try them also. At times one is so much confused, they leave everything and the health issues develop.
In earlier years, the Sadhus sat in meditation under a tree and did breathing exercises and stayed fit.
The ‘Sadyavandanam’ one performs, sitting down and with different ‘Mudras’, is a common thing once the’ Jenauv’ , the thread ceremony which is mostly common in South India. This includes Surya Namaskar and many actions when they perform the ‘Sandhyavananam’. A good concentration and a good form of exercise.
In our childhood, our grandmothers malished the new born applying oil, folding their hands and legs, pulling their ears, malishing their head with oil and tapping them slightly. Stretching their hands and legs and bathed them .Now.many feel this is not advisable and very few are following all these. Now these are shown by different people and they talk about their benefits.
By the time one reaches their 40 to 50 years, they develop knee pain and Arthritis.
They run to a Ayurvedic Doctor or Homeopathic doctor. Start doing Yoga or join a gym to get rid of their aches and pain.
Of course yoga or exercises are good.
In school, earlier we had a PT, Physical Training period where children did exercises. They played in the evening in open.
Now slowly the kids hardly go out to play and they are busy with their mobile phones, play games in that. The elders too are busy with their mobiles, chatting or seeing videos or chatting with their friends and they have many groups.
Life has become sedentary and ailments are increasing and people fall for these sprucing centres for yoga, weight reduction methods and learning various ‘ Mudras.’
Where are we leading to?
Folding our palms and rubbing our hands , one can do anytime.
Doing exercises with hands and legs , anyone can do regularly on their own but once they watch somewhere all these in Television or read books on them, they start following them.
But unless one spends some money and talk about their classes to their friends or post them in Social Media, they feel, they are out of place in the society.
Nothing wrong in all these but one has to be careful in selecting and doing things to keep fit.
At home, the elders must be telling them to getup early and be active, eat good food and sleep early, to be healthy, no one listens as the feel that all these are ‘old fashion .’
Folding hands in a namasthe position, touches all parts of your body or rubbing hands vigorously, do help.
Learn the Mudras correctly and be healthy.
Note _ I am not criticizing anyone , just wrote what I felt about Mudras.
