The Momma Clan

Looking at the present generation of children, my mind gets disturbed watching them immersed in their mobiles, less of physical activities or much communication with anyone at home.

In our childhood years seventy years ago, we all siblings and friends used to wait for the summer vacations to enjoy playing Indoor games  like Carrom Board, Ludo, Spell check or with playing cards to make someone a Donkey.during the day and run out to play outside to the compound or to a nearby park to play many games like football  or kabaddi, hide and seek or Lahori and many games with the marbles.

What a good fun we all used to have and reached home by 7 sharp. Freshen up and we used to complete the holiday home- work and have dinner and slept by 9. Maximum entertainment was , if a Radio was at home, we heard Bianca Mala or some songs.

We used to walk to school, enjoying on our way, plucking Tamrind or some flowers and used to catch a train to reach the school. It was fun and a very difficult experience too but when we played together in the evening, all the worries were driven away.

In comparison to our time, my children grew up playing Indoor games and on the ground with their friends. They cycled to the school and still remember their golden childhood years.

Now both our son and daughters are parents and looking at their children with mobiles, they tell them,” We had such fun in our childhood years,”

Of course each generation has their own way to play games and enjoy life.

In our grandparents time, they only played with marbles or hockey with some sticks but were happy with that. Some may have had a Carrom Board if they were lucky.

The life moved on for them also.

My point to write this blog is to  see the sad sight of children nowadays after the Covid time specially, when the On line classes were conducted and the small kids too were subjected  to such sad type of studies. Their parents had a tough time

managing with all the work and children’s studies. 

A lot of emotional trauma was faced by many and during this time, parents the Indoor games were pulled out and used properly and a bond was created  between them.

During the birthdays still the children get gifts of many game sets gets accumulated. 

Now we find a single unit family in most of the house .Maybe in a joint family the kids may enjoy playing the games but maybe not as   they prefer to play with their mobiles  and now most of the Seniors too are hooked to their mobiles and are connected with their school and college friends as there is no one around to talk. 

I wonder at times , is the Digital World  leading us to a brighter and an enjoyable life ahead?

Well praying for a good peaceful future life  for the present children and their parents.

These are my thoughts. It may vary from person to person
