Living in a multicomplex Apartment has it’s own advantage and disadvantage. Living in an individual bungalow , has it’s own plus and minus points.

We have lived in two complexes in Patna in the 80s to 90s and we are living in one presently in Jamshedpur, Tatanagar.
Mostly in any Multicity Complex Apartments, one can find families from various states living together amicably. The diversity of our Indian Culture can be seen in any of such complex.
The children mingle with each other freely, go to the school together and play games in the complex ground. Yes, regular fights and misunderstanding due to the kid’s fights among the parents is a common happening but things get settled soon. A part of living with many varied thoughts people.
The men gather in the park to discuss politics and talk on various issues.
The ladies join Kitty Party, discuss dishes, jewellery and gossip tho baanta hain ji. They play two rounds of housie and in some Party, they play Rummy. They gather either for lunch or for heavy tea in the evening. They fix the Menu, snacks and dishes, colddrinks or tea and snacks. Mostly it is prepared at home or at times snacks are ordered from outside.
They pick the chit and that person organizes the party the next month. Some arrange in a hotel also.
During any festival like Holi, everyone children , man and women gather in the ground to play with wet colours in the morning and dry Abhir in the evenings. Sweets and snacks are distributed and all have fun.
Some visit their close friend’s places To relish dahi vadas, gujiyas and puran polis. The visiting continues for three days.
During the Independence Day, the women organize Sports for the children age_ wise. Prizes are distributed and sweets and snacks are served. It is a joint effort.
They organize Fete during the Republic Day. The Stalls are put up and some games and Food stalls. The ladies decide the items they want to put up and get started. Tasty Chat, Chole Bhathure, Vada stalls are put up. It looks like a Mini Mela in the Complex. Everyone mingles freely and show interest to learn different dishes. Those who win the games are thrilled . Fancy dress Competition too is conducted.
One can see Unity in Diversity in Big Complex.
During Deepawali, we from the South, burn crackers at dawn, as we celebrate the killing of Narakasur. Early morning after taking bath, and offering the salutation to the elders at home, they enjoy the sweets and snacks prepared at home. Enjoy hot idlis. There is no Pooja as such in South.
North Indians do Pooja in the evening and burn crackers in the evening . A lot of sweets and namkeen are exchanged among families.. All celebrate together happily.
During winter, a picnic to either a Zoo, or to any place is arranged. The Patna Zoo is a huge one and is well kept. They gather for breakfast and roam around to watch the animals. An elephant ride some enjoy. Sit together and enjoy lunch. A round of Antakshari is played. Laughter all around. In the evening kids play with their fathers and the day goes well. All return home happily. Some children write an Essay about their visit.
At times, a Drawing Competition or a Debate or a Dance and Singing Competition is conducted. The children learn from each other and share their thoughts.
All the festivals are conducted with equal enthusiasm and there is a scope to learn and increase their knowledge on various topics.
To conclude, living in a big complex, anytime help is available round the clock during any emergency.
We enjoyed staying in Patna and are in touch with many friends.
