The Constitution of India is the longest constitution in the world. It contains 395 articles and 8 annexes.
The constitution of India was approved by the constituent assembly on 26 November 1949 and entered into force on 26 January 1950. The promulgation of India constitution marked India’s Republic day.

THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, loving
SOLEMNLY resolved to constitute India into SOVEREIGN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all citizens
JUSTICE SOCIAL economic and POLITICAL
LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith, and worship.
EQUALITY of status and of opportunity, and to promote among them all.
FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity of the nation.
IN OUR CONSTITUTION ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November 1949, do hereby adopt, enact and give to ourselves this constitution.
