Goddess Kaalaratri is believed to be the most violent appearance of Goddess Durga. To kill the demons Shumbha and Nishumbha Goddess Parvati peeled off her golden divine skin in this way Goddess Kalaratri appeared. Goddess Kalaratri rides a donkey. Goddess Kalaratri is also referred to as Maa Kaali.

Maa Kaali

The word Kaalaratri is the combination of two words Kaal means time and Ratri means night. Goddess Kalaratri is said to remove the darkness from the life of her devotees. Maa Kaali protects her devotees from evil eyes, negative energies, and the fear of ghosts.

The person having Shanni dosha is recommended to offer prayers to Goddess Kalaratri or Maa Kali. People in the south region worshipped Maa Kaali the most.

There is a saying that goes:

Jai Maa Kaali Calcutta Wali

Tera vachan na jaye khali!
