World Cinema

World cinema refers to movies created in regions apart from the United States, and in the process, represent the global cultures, languages and methods of narrating a story. This genre includes many regions, all of which play differently in the world cinema.

Europe:
France: Well-known regarding the artistic films that are made here, and the French New Wave movement that started in the 1950s and 60s.
Italy: Famous for Italian neorealism with focus on life and problems in the period after the WWII.
Germany: It was famous for Expressionism in the early 1920s and known for New German Cinema in the mid-1970’s to early 1980’s.
United Kingdom: This company is one of the best cinema centers that provides the viewers with historical films as well as comedies of modern days.

Asia:
India: Bollywood is popular for its movies including songs and treads as well, regional languages’ cinemas like Telugu (Tollywood) & Tamil (Tollywood) have great fans.
Japan: Known for great directors like Akira Kurosawa and for popular film genres incuding anime and samurai.
China: Comprises Mainland China and Hong Kong cinema famous for Kung Fu and ancient Chinese history motion pictures respectively.
South Korea: Achieved international recognition and was famed for having some of the best narratives and distinct interpretations such as ‘Parasite’.

Latin America:
Mexico: Mexican & other international directors put great efforts in their local & world cinema like Guillermo del Toro & Alfonso Cuarón.
Brazil: Famous for its colourful and engaged socially movies.

Middle East:
Iran: Often praised for focusing on the mimesis of poetry and philosophy in its pattern, and included famous directors such as Abbas Kiarostami and Asghar Farhadi.

Africa:
Nigeria: Nollywood is second only to Hollywood in terms of commercial film production and manufactures a diverse number of movies.
South Africa: Described for movies that focused on history and social questions, especially apartheid.

Though world cinema has issues such as minimal circulation and break down of language, online streaming stations have proved to enhance accessibility to all viewers and hence allowing the global public to enjoy different cinematic products. Hollywood and other world cinema also find its place with the help of international film festivals and awards.
