I dive deeper into the abyss of my mind,
Scouring for tranquillity,
The one lost in a conflict,
To regain my individuality,
That was lost somewhere in the mist,
Conforming to everyone’s necessities.
I also had some desires,
That whispered in my ears,
Wanting me to heed the words,
But I refrained. Oh, why?
I had no answer,
Every other responsibility seemed larger,
My feeble wishes burned into ashes,
Underneath the expectations of others,
My voice cracked, my steps fumbled,
I meekly submitted myself,
Fulfilled every craving, my family demanded.
At last, I was worn out,
Like the flames of a flickering candle,
My soul withered away,
And I learned the lesson of the day,
To use my voice, and say “NO”,
To replenish my fading strength with self-love,
To care and stand undeterred for myself,
“Together we rise” my body chimes with my soul.
I have done my part and it’s time now,
To undertake the journey of my yearning heart.
