Necessity is the mother of invention and I became an inventor of healthy food for my two & half-year-old son.
Due to an accidental fall and a severe viral infection, my two-year-old son became very thin and weak when he joined kindergarten.
One day, he got up early in the morning and excitedly started to get ready for his preschool’s first event -The kindergarten Race!
But unfortunately, he came last and was very sad. To worsen his hurt, one mother proudly walked up to us and announcing her daughter’s feat said, “Oh! You know my daughter is a champ, she even defeated your son in the race, how sad !” Her words hurt me like a stab on my already injured soul.
That evening I saw my son sitting in our residential compound looking very sad with his head hung low…. It was a moment I decided to do something!
Taking my little boy on my lap, and gently caressing his head, I asked him if he would like to start practice for next year’s race? He jumped up and said “YESSSS!”
That very moment I started with his running practice, timing his speed every day. Mother and son did yoga, meditation, and eating healthy food. Since I wanted my child to be a well-integrated personality not only in sports but in studies & other extracurricular activities, the diet had to play a big part.
So I focused on preparing all varieties of very nutritious food everyday.
Chapati Rolls with healthy stuffings, rice with veggies, gravies made of dry fruits and using vegetables and fruits of all colours, I soon became an innovative home Chef!
From breakfast to dinner and quick-fix healthy snacks, I started innovating, mixing & making it all. It took some time for my son to gain strength but once he picked up the sports season there was no looking back. He became the Best Athlete year after year, Winning Medal after medal, Awards, Trophies, Best Student Achiever Prizes, Newspaper Articles, Best Basketball player, (National and International Captain for Basketball), and National Gold Medalist for Acting and Piano. Robotics – National Gold Winner, Everest Trekker, International Licensed Scuba diver, Actor, Public Speaker, A Yoga Teacher topping with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering! Achieving it all by the time he was 22 years old!
WAS IT MAGIC?
YESSSS It surely must be!
Because when a Mom becomes a MasterChef for her child, MAGIC HAPPENS!
It was my desperate need to help my child grow into a strong & healthy all-rounder, and I am glad I achieved it.
Necessity is indeed the Mother of all inventions.
