ICC U-19 Women T20 World Cup – India’s Historic Win 29th January 2023 marked as one of a historic moment for the cricket lovers of India. Indeed a great start to the year. ICC UNDER-19 WOMEN’S T-20 WORLD CUP

2023 ICC U-19 was the first ICC U-19 Women’s Cricket tournament hosted by South Africa. This tournament was originally announced in 2021 and was to happen in April 2021 but due to the occurrence of Covid-Pandemic, it got shifted to January 2023 by International Cricket Council (ICC). It got started on 14 January 2023 and marks a wonderful end on 29 January 2023. Tournament highlights are as under:

Match Officials: A total of 15 match officials were announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) out of which 9 are Women officials which itself marks the highest number of female match officials.

Format of Competition

The 16 teams were divided into four groups of four, and played once against each other side in their group. The top three teams in each group move forward to the Super Six League stage, where qualifying teams from Group A played against two of the qualifying teams from Group D, and Group B played two qualifying teams from Group C. First group stage qualifier points from matches against teams were carried forward into the Super Six League stage. The top two sides from each of the Super Six Leagues progressed to the semi-finals, with the final taking place on 29 January 2023.

The 16 teams of the Under-19 Women’s T-20 World Cup 2023 have been divided into four groups: A, B, C, and D.

Group A: Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Australia, and the USA.

Group B: Pakistan, Zimbabwe, England, and Rwanda.
Group C: Indonesia, New Zealand, West Indies, and Ireland.
Group D: India, Scotland, UAE, and South Africa.


Highlights of the Final Match ( India vs England)


India beats England in the first-ever International Cricket Council (ICC) Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup final on Sunday (29 January 2023). Chasing a very small target of 69 runs India lost Shafali Verman and Shweta Sehrawat early. But G Trisha and Soumya Tiwari come up with an amazing partnership. England’s batting lineups had no answer towards the bowling of the Indian Cricket Team which led them to score less. Indian Women under-19 team won the match by 7 wickets and grabs the title of first champions of the International Cricket Council (ICC) world cup 2023.
