Navratri is the time to rejoice, celebrate, dance, and pray to the Mother Divine which includes offering prasad also. So let’s learn to prepare some easy homemade, yet tasty and super healthy sweets that can be taken as prasad.

Navratri Sweets- Sago or Sabudana kheer::

Soak sabudana in water overnight and strain the excess water in the morning. Heat half a liter milk in a pan. Add two to three spoons of soaked sabudana to it. In addition add chopped dry fruits, cardamom powder, melon seeds, and raisins to it.

Cook it on a low to medium flame for about ten to fifteen minutes. Take it off the flame. Allow it to cool for some time, then add jaggery powder to it as per your taste and keep it aside for about half an hour. Yummy and healthy sago kheer is ready.

Alternatively, you can also make samaa rice kheer:: heat half a litre of milk in a pan. Add about two spoons of soaked samaa rice into it, and add some mix dry fruit powder, cardamom powder, raisins, and melon seeds.

Cook on low flame for about ten minutes. Then take off the flame and after about ten minutes, add jaggery as per your taste while continuously stirring and let it properly absorb the sweetness for about half an hour. Samaa kheer is ready to be offered.

Navratri Sweets -Easy Pumpkin or bottle gourd Halwa::

For this cut pumpkin or bottle gourd into big pieces and cook them in a pressure cooker. Just add some water to it so that the vegetable doesn’t stick to the bottom. After it is cooked, mash it into a fine paste.

Now heat a spoonful of ghee(clarified butter) in a pan and add khus khus(poppy seeds) and melon seeds to it. Add the mashed pumpkin or bottle gourd and saute it properly till the water completely dries out. Add chopped dry fruits, raisins, and cardamom powder to it.

Then add either jaggery or brown sugar as per your taste and saute it again for some time until the halwa leaves the pan. Yummy pumpkin halwa or bottle gourd halwa is ready.

Navratri Sweets -Healthy Makhana( fox Nut) Laddus::

Dry roast makhana about 250 gms. and grind it to a fine powder. Also, roast 10-15 pieces of almonds and cashews and grind them. Cut 10-15 raisins into two halves and keep them aside. Roast about two spoons of desiccated coconut and keep aside. Mix all the dry ingredients together. For about a bowl of this powder mix, we need an equal quantity of chashni or jaggery syrup.

For jaggery syrup cut half a cup of jaggery and add half a cup of water to it and let it boil and then cook over low to medium flame till the syrup thickens. Now add the powdered mixture to it. Mix properly and keep on roasting till the mixture dries out but be sure that it retains its moisture otherwise you won’t be able to mould them into laddus.

Empty the contents in a thali. Let it cool a bit. Then make small round balls out of it and roll them in desiccated coconut powder. Yummy and healthy laddus are ready for prasad.

So these were some of the healthy prasad options that you can offer to Mother Divine and also savour as prasad without feeling guilty about consuming extra refined sugar or unhealthy calories.

Do try these yummy Navratri Sweets this season and feel the difference.
