Mourning means to grieve or lament for the dead. The simplest way to show the conventional & usual signs of sorrow over a person’s death. It’s an expression of an experience that involves loss of life especially of someone whom you’ve loved.

Sometimes living with the loss of a loved one is more painful than death itself. It’s like living with an amputated core.

But don’t you think the scenario now has changed? Instead of the living mourning the dead, it’s the dead who mourn the living. Our society leaves no space to grieve for loved ones. The bereaved have to now forget about the loss and act upon serving the selfish needs of society. No sooner one leaves for the heavenly abode, inheritors and selfish scavengers await to pounce on, instead of letting you be in the memory and grief of the lost soul. The loved one who is still alive needs to follow the unrealistic rituals of society, societal demands, and pressure to survive the most difficult of times without any empathy.

The lost soul watches down and feels the pain. It’s like the soul is mourning the loved ones it just left behind. The dead mourns as it realizes that only a handful or lesser, truly care for its death. Others are only there for the benefits or for the pleasure of seeing the loved ones in grief. It’s such a painful sight for the dead to see their own fight over money, property, inheritance, and more, at the time when they could’ve actually shown their love and admiration for the dead. The dead mourns as it realizes that each moment of being alive, spending those precious moments to please the world was in vain, as all those things just crashed down in seconds like a castle of cards. The dead mourns to see the empathetic state of the ones that truly care, for they are bitten by the harsh words more often than sympathy.

Yes, people these days don’t really grieve the dead, coz their motive is to derive. There is no sympathy for the dead. It’s like society is dead from the inside, while it’s still living. Even after years and years of loss, the bereaved may still feel the heartache and emptiness, the void that couldn’t ever be filled. But the society makes sure, from time and again to scratch the wound with unkind words and acts of selfishness. To never let one heal, makes the grieving cry the bitterest tears for all that was left unsaid and undone before the unforsaken.

Is it really mourning for the dead? Or is the dead really mourning to see the state of the true world and relationships? Is money, wealth, fame, inheritance, lineage, and such worldly pleasures the only real reason for bonding with the living? Is love, care, relationships of no importance? Will I be mourned for my death? Or would I have to mourn for being dead & to see the complexity of selfish acts?

Death is, useful but purely intellectual concept. No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there and yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it and that is how it should be because death is the single most best invention of life. It clears out the old to create a path for the new. Each of our time is limited here on Earth, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.

Don’t fear the living, don’t fear the loss, for even in the oblivion, loved ones are never apart.

  1. Such a thought-provoking emotional blog… Sadly, people are more interested in deriving from the dead… than showing sympathy and helping out the bereaved.
